Well hello, last Wednesday of August 🙂 It’s time for another fun What’s Up Wednesday post link-up with Mel, Shay, and Sheaffer. The start of September is a lot of things for me – this year, September 1 is my official 11-year anniversary with Jeremy of becoming boyfriend-girlfriend (2004), our 6-year anniversary of me saying “yes!” to his proposal in Hawaii (2009), and the month of September to me is the official start of fall, football, and leg warmers season! Let the fun begin!
What we’re eating this week… Now that I am back to being the main cook in our house, I’m on the search for new recipes to mix up our family meal planning menu. I’m looking at you, Shay! 😉 I love finding new ideas and recipes, so if anyone else has another meal planning blog out there, please comment and share! I will check it out! My dear husband loves my cooking and latches on to familiar favorites, but I get bored easily of the same old things… and I also don’t have a lot of time to spend in the kitchen right now. So quick, easy, and tasty are our trigger words right now. Ideas welcome!
What I’m reminiscing about… Jeremy and I both have been very cheesy lately about our early days together 11 years ago! He recently went back and re-read all of our first emails that we sent back and forth to each other before we met in person, and we both have repeated little sayings and key words from “back then” when we fell in love. It’s fun to see how far we’ve come since then – I mean, just check out my amazing skirt-over-jeans look back in 2004!
What I’m loving… Chocolate. A good old classic Hershey’s bar. Every night. I thought it was a pregnancy craving, but I’m not pregnant anymore… At least now I get to pour a glass of red wine with it! 🙂
What we’ve been up to… Getting used to our new normal. I unexpectedly took a two-week blog hiatus to get my life organized while I adjusted to my new normal. I’m excited to move forward with somewhat of a daily schedule/routine as a mom to two babies under two!
What I’m dreading… Going through Gavin’s newborn clothes! It seriously took me longer to sort through, wash, and organize all of his new (and hand-me-down) clothes than it will to now set aside and donate the ones he has grown out of. That’s right… at 6 weeks old, he is already wearing size 3 month clothes, which means I need to get rid of all of the clothes that are smaller than 3 months. He didn’t even get a chance to wear all of them! That’s what we get for having an 8 lb 11 oz 2-weeks-past-due-date baby! But what a cutie, are you kidding me?!
What I’m working on… The garage! Oh my gosh, I have made so much progress in the last couple weeks! Our big goal is to be able to park in the garage – both of our cars, in the garage, and hopefully before the weather turns on us. So I have organized places/shelves/wall space/etc around the perimeter of our garage for holiday stuff, camping stuff, baby stuff, sports equipment, tools, crafting/art/party supplies, and my Nextpirations projects. The stuff left over is either coming inside the house to be placed in a specific spot, or being placed in boxes up in the attic space, or getting sold/donated STAT! Stay tuned for a blog post and pictures on this big project coming soon!
What I’m excited about… My beautiful green double BOB jogging stroller was just delivered TODAY!!!! I don’t even need to say more, because this bad boy will be featured in a lot of upcoming blog posts and pictures for YEARS to come, I’m sure of it! Time to start racking up the miles on it. 🙂
What I’m watching/reading… Big Brother, Big Brother, Big Brother! So much has happened, and my opinion on certain people has already changed so much since I last posted about Big Brother! Let’s just say… Vanessa has got to go, the Austwins are some sort of lucky-genius to have gotten to where they are, I still love and am rooting for Johnny Mac, and I am just intrigued and entertained by the dark horse duo of James and Meg. If anyone else is watching this, please chime in! And I have barely started a new book (Mistress by James Patterson), but my limited “me-time” focus has been on Big Brother more than getting into the new book right now….
What I’m listening to… Snoring! Gavin is a great sleeper! Two nights ago, he slept his first 8-hour stretch through the night! I’m not afraid to jinx it because our year-and-a-half-old girl Zara has also been a great sleeper since she was a baby… so I think we have just lucked out in the sleeping baby world. And are you kidding me with this cute little tie on his onesie?! Baby boy clothes are a lot cuter than I was expecting!
What I’m wearing… These Crocs flip flops are so comfortable! It’s like walking on clouds. And the silver detail on top dress them up just a bit. I wear them with skirts, dresses, yoga pants, everything! I’ll transition into fall still wearing them, and adding a pair of leg warmers until I just HAVE to wear socks again.
What I’m doing this weekend… We have a few things tentatively planned on the calendar… a kids’ outdoor movie night at my friend’s house, our birth center’s annual family picnic, and the Seahawks’ third pre-season game against the Chargers are all on Saturday, and Sunday is usually reserved for a family walk to the park… We shall see! My fantasy football draft is also this Sunday night, so Jeremy will be having some daddy-daughter-son time during that time! I will return the favor next weekend during his fantasy draft.
What I’m looking forward to next month… Seahawks Sundays!! I’ll be sporting a Marshawn Lynch jersey this year. “I’m just here so I don’t get fined.” Bring on the touchdowns and Skittles!!
What else is new… Zara starts “school” this month! She is enrolled in a co-op toddler group, which is for two hours on Thursdays. Gavin and I will be going with her, and she already has a few friends in her class. It should be a lot of fun. I’m excited to watch her interact with others in a fun and playful setting. Plus her nap afterwards should be amazing!! 😉
I’m calling it now… September should be a fantastic month!! Happy Fall to you all! 🙂
