Wow, we had another amazing weekend! We fit so much in and got so much done. I love weekends that are fun, relaxing AND productive, and this one was all of those! Huge shoutout to my husband for all of his help and hard work – the weekend outcome definitely would not have been the same without him!
Let’s start with Friday… It was time to chop my hair. I have not cut my hair in YEARS (besides minor trims); I have been growing it long and just having a LOT of fun with color. You can check out those fun details here. But it was finally time – MUCH to my husband’s disagreement. I had/have many reasons to want to cut it: it takes too long to “do”, Zara pulls on it, most days it just ends up in a ponytail or messy bun, I’m ready for a change, I want to cut off the damaged ends that I was coloring and start over with my natural color, etc etc etc. Jeremy just has one reason for me to not cut it: he likes it long. And he has threatened me that if I cut my hair more than a 1/4 inch trim, than he is going to grow his beard/goatee long again. I say “again” because there was a time back in 2007/2008 when he grew his goatee 13 inches long. Ugh. I was not a fan of it. But anyway, Friday was my haircut time. I was nervous, but I did it! Here are the before and after pics:
Eight inches GONE! It is longer in the front and a little shorter in the back with layers for a little bit of oomph. It feels so much better! I’m still playing with my favorite way to wear it now, whether that is leave it naturally curly, straighten it, loosen out some waves, etc. But it feels good. I thought I might need to take my top off when I debuted it to Jeremy to distract him from the shock of it… but he actually likes it! Despite his approval though, he still thinks he gets to grow his beard – he said our “deal” was however many inches I cut off, he gets to grow. NO. We’ll see what happens with that. 😉
Saturday morning, Zara and I left for our Color Run 5K for heart health! We woke up early and set out to meet some of our FIT4MOM friends for this fun event. This was our first color run, and boy was it FUN!! We decked out in white clothing that may or may not get “ruined” by the color and then we added some fun colorful tutus and headbands – and goggles for Z to protect her eyes from the flying colors. I also added a blue heart on my belly to show off my due-in-6-weeks boy, who was along for the fun! Here are the before and after pics:
While we were at the color run, Jeremy was hard at work at home, finishing off the last minute cleaning that needed to get done… Two of my best friends arrived while I was gone to set up for my baby shower that they were hosting at my house! And they did an amazing job. They planned a Seahawks theme (Go Hawks!) and it was so much fun!! I had just enough time to get home and shower before the guests arrived. And Jeremy then took Zara on a daddy-daughter date while my friends showered me and our upcoming boy with love and Hawks 🙂 We got so many awesome boy outfits (I had no idea how cute boys’ clothes are too!), so many great Hawks stuff for his room, and a lot of much-appreciated gift cards so that I can upgrade to a double jogging stroller!! I am SO EXCITED to get my green BOB stroller for my two littles to use every day.
One of my favorite surprise gifts is a homemade Seahawks growth chart – with the 40-inch Disney requirement marked off. Now both Zara and baby boy can see how close they are getting to our much-anticipated next family trip to Disneyland!! I can’t wait to get baby boy’s nursery all set up. Here is the awesome growth chart and a picture of me with my sisters:
My friends did an awesome job with the football theme and decorations. Instead of a guest book, they bought a football for everyone to sign! They went with bright yellow “penalty flags” for napkins. And the food was amazing – they took my chocolate cravings and offered an amazing display of chocolate fondue with all kinds of yummy things to dip into it. And instead of games, they had all of the guests make personalized onesies for the baby, as well as write encouraging/funny messages on newborn diapers to make us laugh during nighttime changings. Love it!!
After a wonderful afternoon visiting with my friends, Zara and I then got some play time together while Jeremy pressure-washed our front driveway and walkway, as well as our back patio. Those pressure washers are amazing!! We don’t have one of our own, so we were lucky enough to be able to borrow one for the weekend, and it made all the difference in the world on how our outdoor area now looks. I’m even more excited now to get moving on our front porch and back deck projects. 🙂
Sunday morning, we woke up and Jeremy made a nice breakfast for me and Zara. Then we got to work on clearing out the office! This is one of the many steps necessary to get the baby’s nursery ready. I’m going to save more detailed updates for tomorrow’s post because a lot more progress is being made on this project today – including getting this whole room carpeted! We moved everything out to prepare those floors for new carpeting:
Clearing out that room and closet was both therapeutic and tiring! So once we got that necessary step done…. it was time for one of our beloved family naps 🙂 Even though it was beautiful outside, we closed the curtains and relaxed inside and snoozed – Zara upstairs in her crib, and Jeremy and I lounged out on the living room couches with a movie playing. Then we woke up, showered and got ready, and met up with some good people to celebrate a friend’s birthday. Having dinner out at a restaurant with some good laughs was a wonderful way to end our wonderful weekend!
Fun, productive and relaxing – I couldn’t have asked for much more than that out of this weekend. And now we are set up for a fun, productive and busy week! All leading up to next weekend, which is already Memorial Day weekend! Time is flying by!! Summer will be here before we know it. Have a happy week!! 🙂
